Frequently Asked Questions
What is the EarliPoint System?
The EarliPoint System is an FDA-cleared medical device indicated for use as a tool to aid qualified clinicians in the diagnosis and assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children 16 to 30 months old who are at risk based on concerns shared by a parent, caregiver, or healthcare provider.
(Not for direct consumer purchase; clinician use only).
How does the EarliPoint System work?
During an assessment, the child watches short, age-appropriate videos on a screen while the EarliPoint System measures how the child looks at different parts of the videos. These measurements are then analyzed to provide information that can help a clinician evaluate signs associated with ASD.
Does EarliPoint give a diagnosis of autism?
No. The EarliPoint System does not provide a diagnosis on its own. It is a tool that aids qualified clinicians as part of a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation for Autism Spectrum Disorder. The clinician interprets EarliPoint results along with other clinical information and assessments.
Is the EarliPoint System safe for my child?
Yes. The EarliPoint assessment is non-invasive and involves only eye-tracking while watching short videos. The system does not use radiation or require physical contact. However, only a qualified healthcare provider should administer and interpret the results.
What are the limitations of the EarliPoint System?
EarliPoint results are intended to support, not replace, a clinician’s professional judgment. The device was studied in children 16–30 months old, so results should not be generalized to children outside that age range or to other conditions. Performance may vary depending on the child’s attention and behavior during testing.
